This album is inspired by Aztec
myths.
The project started as stage music for a play 'Quetzalcoatl' ( The Feathered Snake ) written by the Mexican playwright and screen writer Berta Dominguez, aka Mrs Alexander Salkind. The original material was then developed and rearranged to form the basis for the CD. The unusual musical colours of the
album come partly from recordings made in Mexico amongst the Nahuatl Indians,
who still use many of the musical instruments of the Aztec epoch before
the Spanish conquest.

What the critics said: Beautiful, exotic mixture of ethnic/electronic
tones...
One of the most interesting 'concept'
album of the year. Music contains subtleties and nuances
which aren't found in much of the fashionable labels such as Venture,Windham
Hill, and Private.
Hints of Terry Riley's Rainbows in
a Curved Air and of Deuter's fluting sounds pervade Biry's deceptively
simple but highly charged compositions, making each one a thought provoking
experience.
A good example of a successful mix
combining minimalism, cosmic rock (Pink Floyd, Klaus Schulze). baroque
(Purcell) and ethnic music.
The Feathered Snake is in fact a
very good release. Taking Aztec myth, and non Hispanic Mexican music styles,
Daniel has blended these with his own unique to synth music making, with
a library of unusual sampled sounds, great dexterity in performance and
a highly complex approach to composition, rhythm and melody, Daniel makes
a fascinating musical
